The universality of suffering

A personal contemplation of my journey into Soul contract

drain, dry, dead, impermanence, unsatisfactory, suffering

In the past months delivering soul contract reading to people from different countries and many backgrounds, from Europe to US to Asia, I have come to see that being on earth is tough wherever you grow up.

Each country, region, religion, lineage, offers a set of lessons and experiences that are equally painful emotionally and mentally. Most of us struggle to find the true Spiritual beingness within because of the ego thought system and conditioning that pervade every home.

I used to think that Vietnam with its wars and poverty and post war embargo would make us the most struggling race.

Or China and Korea and Japan with the overly patriarchal culture of oppression and suppression will create the numb-est women.

Turned out… the degree of suffering on a scale does not depend on how developed the country is or how 'civilized' the humans are. It is equal, as long as we do not/ cannot remember that everything here is a plan by your own soul to experience and nurture certain qualities and gifts, in order to ultimately give back to your brotherhood. Everywhere, children and adults go through some form of trauma, lose connection with parent(s) as a child, witness or experience abuse within the family due to addiction or poverty, emotional &/or physical abuse, disempowerment, gaslighting, betrayal, abandonment, subsequently disconnect from their feelings, close their heart to some degree, feel unworthy to be successful, or live life with (unrecognized) anger, rage and distrust in self and others.

The beginning of Aquarian age has seen large volumes of knowledge brought to the world to help people move through challenges, many types of meditation, breathing exercises, healing modalities, truth books, self help techniques… and millions of lives have been shifted, gradually or exponentially. So I won't comment which modality or technique is the best thing out there - we each have our own resonance. What has drawn my contemplation is the steps on the journey to lasting changes.

5 steps to overcome suffering

First is the acknowledgement that something isn't quite working in our life - lack of purpose, lack of "joie de vivre", outburst of anger, physical illness, isolation, procrastination, relationship trouble, etc.

Second, some bigger picture of truth - emotional, mental, spiritual truth. I remember researching on the reality behind glamorous financial market, big food and big pharma, and be totally disappointed, changing my direction and diet a few times, before searching for something higher than 3D. Still, truth has been trickling in since. But the picture isn't complete without reading my Soul contract - after all we are here not by a random dynamic but within a bigger scheme of things and finer design. With this full-er picture comes accountability and willingness to focus on inner work.

Third, clearing the conditioning and ego thought system within us (the karmic imprints or challenges in our soul contract). It can be the energetic influences we pick up from the lineage and environment, or the imprints from our past and deeper misperceptions of ourselves. This is where healing modalities and meditation play important role. One can use Family constellation for ancestral trauma and relationship disentanglement, or energy healing, body and breath work to clear some imprints, while practising meditation to train awareness.

Fourth, manifesting our talents and gifts (readily available in our soul contract, or can be contemplated the ikigai way, based on our experiences, exposure, and inclination). Talents can only be activated with use, trial and errors. The journey to manifesting gifts is also the path to undoing the ego, because you will have to face your shadow before the gifts are fully embodied. Embodiment also comes in layers, built upon each other over conceptual time.

Fifth, not losing focus on the ultimate pathway. Many of us manage to fix a relationship or love ourselves more or find better life, and get busy with the external aspect of life, forgetting that there are deeper layers of karmic imprints waiting to surface, and they will, eventually. It is also about realizing our truest self instead of just the happier version, which can be a distraction in most cases.

Which step are you at and do you feel you need a clearer picture of this path with a soul contract reading?
